Meter

Resources

A recurring bill tracker
for iPhone.

Meter keeps every bill that comes back in one place, shows when each one is due, and reminds you the day before. No bank, no account, and nothing you add is sent to us.

Already there

The bills most homes have are already there.

Every home in Meter starts with ten, from rent and the mortgage to electricity, internet and the car. Fill in the ones you pay: who it’s paid to, what it comes to and how often.

  • Pause the ones that don’t apply
  • Add any other bill by its name
  • A bill with nothing filled in counts for nothing

Due dates

A reminder the day before each one is due.

Tell Meter when a bill is next due and how often it comes. After each due date, the next one takes its place by itself.

  • Every 2 weeks, monthly, every 2 or 3 months, or yearly
  • A reminder at 9 a.m., with a Due Date Reminder switch on each bill
  • Upcoming shows what’s due in the next three days

Bills that vary, like electricity, gas and water, count by the last one, shown with ~.

Together

Everything you pay for, added up.

Meter keeps your subscriptions too, and Home counts them with your bills, so you see what the whole home costs a month.

  • Per Month adds up both, each at its monthly share
  • Upcoming lists both, soonest first
  • Bills keeps its own Total and Upcoming too

What Meter doesn’t do

Meter is a manual tracker. It doesn’t pay your bills or cancel anything for you, and it never connects to a bank or to the companies you pay, so it won’t find a bill for you: you add each one yourself. It doesn’t track payments either: there’s nothing to mark as paid, and after each due date the next one takes its place. It’s for iPhone only, not Android or the web, and for households in the US and Canada.

Questions

Does Meter pay my bills?

No. Meter keeps track of your bills and reminds you the day before each one is due; you pay them as you do now. It doesn’t connect to a bank or to the companies you pay, and there’s nothing to mark as paid: after each due date, the next one takes its place.

Will it remind me before a bill is due?

Yes. A notification comes the day before each due date, at 9 a.m. Each bill has a Due Date Reminder switch, so you can turn off any you don’t need. If none arrive, check Settings › Notifications › Meter.

What about bills that change every month?

Meter counts them by the last one, and shows the amount with ~. When the next one arrives, touch and hold the bill, choose Edit, and change the amount.

Which bills can I track?

Any bill that comes back. Every home starts with rent, mortgage, property tax, home insurance, electricity, gas, water, internet, a car and car insurance; pause the ones that don’t apply, and add any other by its name. A bill can come every 2 weeks, monthly, every 2 months, every 3 months or yearly.

Does it track subscriptions too?

Yes. Subscriptions have their own list, and Home adds them up with your bills: Per Month counts both, each at its monthly share, and Upcoming lists both. Here’s more on Meter as a subscription tracker for iPhone.

Does Meter connect to my bank?

No, never. You add your bills yourself, and nothing you add is sent to us. Here’s more on tracking without a bank.

Why not use a spreadsheet?

You can. Meter adds what a spreadsheet won’t do on its own: a reminder the day before each bill is due, and a list of what’s due in the next three days. To keep a list yourself, start with the free subscription tracker spreadsheet.

What does Meter cost?

Nothing during early access: every feature is free for beta testers, with no ads.

Does it work in Canada?

Yes. Meter is for households in the US and Canada. It never connects to a bank, so it doesn’t matter which bank you use.
